I'm sure many of you heard about the passing of esteemed actor Edward Herrmann earlier today. It was posted over on Gawker and other sites, TMZ appears to be the first to have the news.
When you were a kid, you wanted to own a race car. Then you grew up and realized that your hip hurts when you get out of bed in the morning and you're not a millionaire. In the future, we will all own giant eggs, and the eggs will drive themselves. Maybe. That's what could happen if the vision of tomorrow set to be unveiled by Mercedes-Benz at next month's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas comes true.
Between its trick all-wheel-drive systems and need to stay at the forefront of go-fast technology, I've always wondered why more people don't take the Nissan GT-R rallying. This video has me wondering even more. Clearly, this is the rowdy, drifty Skyline GT-R rally beast that the universe deserves.
In 2012, dash cams introduced themselves to the world. In 2013, dash cams started breaking worldwide news. In 2014? Things got weird.
New Year's Eve might be the best party night of the year, but it can also be the most stressful, from losing your phone to the far more perilous drive home. Here are a few things you can do now to stay safe and sane this New Year's.
Tell me: Were you smart enough to buy an early 1970s Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS a decade ago when you had the chance? No? Then you're totally screwed and you'll never be able to afford one now. Sorry. Tough potatoes.
Instead of writing about my year, I figured I'd just put together a bunch of loud revving clips instead. Enjoy!

I'm not sure the BMW Z1 is the most yuppie car ever made, but this blonde dude squealing tires to make it to his next squash game on time certainly makes a strong case for it.
Google's Chromecast is a great way to stream anything in your living room, but mastering its intricacies can really make it shine . There are some hidden Chromecast capabilities many people don't know exist, and here are some of the best ones.
Once again, it’s on. Just like I did last year and the year before, I’ve come up with two lists, Joni-Mitchell-style. First, the “hits” that brought the clicks and comments. Last, the “misses” that were near and dear to my heart. As I did for 2013, I’ll include a few articles that I published elsewhere. […]

When Toyota introduced the Corona Mark II to the world, we stupidly assumed there were only three versions: the coupe, the sedan, and the station wagon. We were wrong. And now we have a new unicorn.
Let me be up front here: I don't think the Lightburn Zeta is the worst car ever made. But many people do. It's not a good car, by any standard, but it was designed to be a super-cheap, incredibly basic form of transport, and considering the context, its flaws at least make sense. That said, it is sort of delightfully ugly. And terrible.
MotoGP is neat and all, what with its money and world-class tracks and brilliant riders, but for sheer lunatic excitement it's got nothing on the Malaysian Cub Prix.

In a few hours I'm flying to Buenos Aires to help lead an off-road tour chasing the 2015 Dakar Rally some 10,000 miles from Argentina to Bolivia to Chile and back to the start. So uh, what should I bring?
Every present isn't a winner (sorry Aunt Edna) and your house could use some eye candy. So let's get a list together of the best automotive art while we're waiting to get a gift receipt for that phlegm-green knit vest that's two sizes too big.
So you have your awesome new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. You're being a good little boy or girl and adhering to the break-in procedure. All of a sudden, your engine starts knocking. What'd you do?!
Let's be honest, when it takes ten minutes just to get a lousy milkshake in the drive-thru, McDonald's isn't fast food. This is. Behold! The racing dinner table.
The Shelby Cobra has celebrated its 50th anniversary at least twice now, but next year marks the introduction of the 427 model, and Shelby is building 50 new examples to commemorate the occasion, starting at just under $120k.
By the mid-1980s, the Chevrolet Nova had made a rather unceremonious transition from compact muscle car to rebadged front-wheel drive Toyota hatchback. It wasn't a bad car, but it certainly wasn't a great one, nor one that people would lust after.
Welcome to the 2014 Savies, where we look at the current candidates for the Save of the Year. The closer the death-defying call, the better.

Yesterday, the Daily Beast ran a scathing report on the F-35's Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS), an internal system which serves in the same role as fighter's laser targeting pod. The article claimed that EOTS is based on old technology and that it sorely lacks certain key features found on modern targeting pods. Are they right?
What can I say about /DRIVE's 2014 that hasn't been said? There were ups and downs, to be sure. Lots of downs. But instead of staring down the barrel of "what the hell do we do now" we've got 2015 to look forward to. The new year looks pretty good.

Unfortunately, that car doesn't exist. But it can. I'm here to show you how to make the otherwise forgotten Honda Insight into a truly epic gas miser that lasts forever.
The real crux of this video starts at about 40 seconds in, and it's honestly not the craziest Russian Dash Cam video in the world. But I just like how the accordion going into overdrive is the thing that appears to make him swerve violently off the road.
