One of the interesting things about travel by air is that it's perfectly acceptable to drink alcohol at any time of day. If you have an adult beverage on a flight, what's your drink of choice?
Yep, we totally understand you kid. Sometimes when the sun is beating down too hard and the day of fun has gone on a little too long and you're oddly comfortable in an uncomfortable position, you just fade away without a care in the world. It is a hammock's rest. It is ice melting in an umbrella drink. It is this kid driving in circles in his toy car because he's passed out.
We know how much the 2015 Ford Mustang will cost, but we're still not exactly sure how much power it has. Ford will only say that the V8-powered GT will have "more than 420 horsepower." Let's hope it's a lot more, because we just heard that the Horse just gained around 200 to 300 pounds.
The Jim Clark Rally, a round of the British Rally Championship in Scotland, has been cancelled, amid numerous reports saying that spectators were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle. One person has reportedly been killed. More details as we have it.
We received a whole bunch of tips about that interesting Solar Roadway idea, and we were intrigued, until we realized that the Solar Roadway would probably be incredibly expensive, just to start. But a lot of genius ideas for your car sound really good, at least at first, on paper.
At first I liked it, something very different, not seemingly practical, but cool and unexpected. I like it when a major manufacturer goes out on a limb and tries something that doesn't exist on the market and actually follows through with it. I am of course referring to the BMW X6. First displayed in 2007 as a concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. It hit the showroom floors in 2008 and immediately divided the automotive community.
From Foxtrot Alpha: After years of passing more conventional capabilities by, I think it is time for the Marine Corps, and the "Gator Navy" for that matter, to get serious about getting the very most out of their extremely expensive and controversial F-35B force. At $150 million a pop, they need to be more than nicer Harriers.
Holding up traffic is not a good idea. Holding up traffic and standing in the street to beat the living crap out of a rival construction crew is not a good idea. If you want to make that idea even worse, arm everyone with hammers. And only hammers.
You know how you were going to spend your Saturday taking a boxcutter to an old tire and film the whole thing, just to see what would happen? It turns out you won't have to, as somebody did it already. Here's a hint as to what happens: it explodes in your goddamn face.
This weekend brings us TUSC and IndyCar racing in Detroit, but not before the Stadium Super Trucks had a go. And the SSTs are the only ones that truly fly. Halston Pitman over at Motorsport Media caught them in all their crazy, silly, amazing glory.
When you finally have grandkids, if you haven't already, and if you should be so lucky, if that's what you want, you're going to have to sit them down one day and explain what a "Mercury" was. And cars like the 7th-generation Mercury Cougar might make that a bit difficult.
Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?
The thing about video games these days is that they don't have enough Alfa Romeo SZ Sprint Zagatos in them. It's like they're boycotting them. But why boycott awesome? Did it hurt you? Did a Sprint Zagato bully you as a kid? Thankfully Forza is here to help.
While we like original ideas and unique design, these ten controls should be obvious in any car to keep us safe and happy.
Everyone thinks they're a hot-shot parallel parker, but the real pros use a few simple steps to set up a perfect, one-move parking job. No jockeying around, no parking by feel. Just a smooth, single motion.
Many of you good readers have brought this 1998 Honda Accord to our attention today. With good reason— it's re-goshdarn-diculous. Who builds these wacky home-brewed, zombie-cars? Why? And what are some of the greatest ones you've ever seen?
Surprise! While everyone's been talking about the Volkswagen GTI Roadster , those sly devils at Mitsubishi pulled a fast one by getting their Gran Turismo 6 car in the game first. This beast is the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo.
What looks like just a squished GTI in renders and in Gran Turismo 6 is far different in real life. VW unleashed a full-scale model of its GTI Vision Gran Turismo at the Worthersee Festival, and even though they'll never build it for real, they really, really should.
A bright-red 1991 Ford Festiva with a badger on the door, pickup bed and six wheels is about to join baby sloths, lemurs, and ducklings in the elite fellowship of things that make you go d'awww!
